- Wanita J. Martin, 91, of Olney, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Burgin Manor in Olney.
Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial at Crest Haven Memorial Park.
Mrs. Martin was born June 11, 1922, in Olney, the daughter of George and Verno Isabelle Daggy Winsor. She married Charles L. "Dot" Martin on April 11, 1943, in Fayetteville, N.C. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2004.
Wanita was a graduate of Olney Township High School. She was an active member for many years at Elm Street Christian Church and then became a member of Christian Church of Olney. She worked as a bookkeeper for car dealerships until she retired. She then worked part-time at Sears in Florida. Wanita enjoyed ceramics, cooking, and decorating for all the holidays. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Wanita was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a strong faith and instilled that in her children.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Siesky and husband Larry, of Evansville, Ind.; son, George Martin and wife Kathy, of Olney; grandson, William Christopher Wood and wife Rose, of Decatur; granddaughter, Lindsey Martin, of Olney; grandson, Chad Martin, of Olney; great-grandchild, Brianna Wood, of Decatur; great-granddaughter, Riley Jo Kraus, of Olney; great-grandsons, Justin, Jeremy, and Jonathan Wood, of Texas; and brother, Bob Winsor.
Wanita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and son-in-law, Diana Sue and Donald Wood, grandson, Brian Michael Wood, and grandson, Patrick Aaron Johnson.
