World War II
During World War II, the Olney Kiwanis Club, sponsored a Roll of Honor upon which all Richland county servicemen's names were listed. In front of the Roll of Honor was placed the Honor Roll of those men who had made the supreme sacrifice. It was in the form of an open book and had inscribed upon it these words. "We Died That Freedom Might live; It is a fitting tribute to these young men who gave their lives to the cause of freedom. This tribute was place on the northeast corner of the Court House lawn.
