    Notes:

    Everett Maurice Bangert, age 81, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at his home.

    He was born December 31, 1939, in Ingraham, Illinois, the son of John O. and Ruby I. (Cochran) Bangert. He was united in marriage to Kaaren J. Osborn on May 30, 1958, and together they have shared 63 wedding anniversaries.

    Maurice was born and raised in the oil patch around Ingraham. His life work revolved around the oil industry and farming. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed a good card game. He was quite happy to see his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren take up and enjoy deer and turkey hunting on the family farm. Maurice did not think he would like golf but when he was finally convinced to give it a try, he and Kaaren had many years of adventures on the golf course.

    Maurice battled Pulmonary Fibrosis and often commented on the excellent medical care he received noting that he was 8 years into a disease with a 5-year life expectancy.

    He is survived by his wife: Kaaren Bangert; daughter: Kathy (Philip) Leonard; grandchildren: Megan (James) Doerfler and Aaron (Jennifer) Leonard; great-grandchildren: Addyson Doerfler, Bryleigh Doerfler, and Everett Leonard; siblings: Ron (Naomi) Bangert and Jona (Mike) Uptmor; brother-in-law: Larry Osborn; and numerous nieces, nephews, greats, and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Stephen Bangert; brother: Patrick Bangert; and brother-in-law: Everett Osborn

    Family services will be held at a later date with burial in Clay City Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.     Notes:

    Son of John Oliver and Ruby Ilene Cochran Bangert. He was killed in an automobile accident. Brother of Everett Maurice, Ronald Gene, and Jona Bea Bangert.

    Pat Bangert, 5 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. John Bangert of Ingraham, was killed instantly about 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon in an automobile accident a half-mile north of Ingraham.

    The accident occurred when the family auto, driven by Mrs. Bangert, skidded on loose gravel and went out of control.

    Pat and his infant brother, Ronnie, one year old, were thrown from the auto.

    Mrs. Bangert and Ronnie were taken to the Clay County hospital in Flora, where X-ray pictures showed that neither was seriously injured.

    The body of Pat was taken to the Neal Funeral Home in Louisville.

    Funeral services for the little boy will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Ingraham Christian Church. Burial also will be in Ingraham.

    The accident, one of the several tragedies involving the death of children in this area in recent weeks, shocked the entire Ingraham community.

    Pat was a son of John and Ruby Bangert and leaves besides his parents, an older brother, Maurice, 14, and his baby brother, Ronnie.

    Also surviving are the little boy's materal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. W. R. Cochran , who reside near the Farmersburg store.

    (When the accident occurred Mrs. Bangert and the two boys were en route home after visiting at the home of her parents.)

    Mr. Bangert is well known throughout the Ingraham area. For several years he has been engaged in hauling oil from wells in the vicinity.

    Notes:

    Stephen E. Bangert, age 53, of Clay City, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

    He was born September 24, 1961 in Olney, Illinois to Maurice and Kaaren J. (Osborn) Bangert.

    Stephen was an accomplished musician playing the piano and saxophone, and was often an accompanist for students participating in music contests. He served on the Clay City Village Board where he assisted with the improvement of the Clay City Cemetery, and was a member of the Clay City Christian Church.

    Stephen is survived by his parents: Maurice and Kaaren Bangert of Clay City; a sister: Kathy (Phil) Leonard of Effingham; niece: Megan (James) Doerfler of New Berlin; nephew: Aaron Leonard of Effingham; two great-nieces: Addyson and Bryleigh Doerfler; aunt: Jona (Mike) Uptmor of Robinson; and uncles: Ron (Naomi) Bangert of Clay City and Larry Osborn of Boulder City, Nevada. He will also be missed by his beloved little dog, "Max". He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

    Memorials may be made to Fur A Good Paws or Clay City Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.

    A graveside service was held May 23, 2015 at the Clay City Cemetery. Frank & Bright Funeral Home assisted the family.
