Dorothy G. Horton, 81, of Flora, IL died at 11:30 AM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Good Samaritan RHC in Mt. Vernon, IL.

She was born January 12, 1930 in Pittsboro, MS to Joseph & Birdie (Poyner) Mason. She married Bailey "Pete" Horton on July 16, 1946 in Bruce, MS. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2001.

She was a homemaker, previously worked at Hella in Flora, and was of the Christian faith. Dorothy enjoyed Cardinal Baseball, Cowboy Football, and loved cooking for her family.

She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn (Lester) Beck and Deborah (Bud) Doud; son: Michael Horton; sister: Jean (Adrian) Steele; three grandchildren: Jennifer Derrer, Brian (Michelle) Beck, Dottie (Dale) Spillman; five great-grandchildren: Anthony, Ashley, Alex, Bayli and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3threebrothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services were held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.

Memorials may be made to that of the donor's choice.

Dorothy married Horton, Bailey Pinkney 'Pete' Jr. on 16 Jul 1946 in Bruce, Calhoun County, Mississippi. Bailey was born on 27 Sep 1922 in Mississippi; died on 10 May 2001 in Illinois; was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, Clay County, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
