Completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialties of rifleman (745) and mail clerk (055). Departed the U.S. on December 10, 1944 bounund for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with Company K, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th 'Ivy' Infantry Division through the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on February 3, 1946 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, Illinois.
