- ELSIE ELIZABETH MAGLONE was born in October 1863 in Illinois, the daughter of James Maglone and Mary Henson. The family had been living in Noble Township, Richland County, Illinois, USA, and most of the older children of the family were born there. But sometime before the 1870 census they moved to Hoosier Township, Clay County, Illinois, USA. Elsie might have been born in either place. She had 8 older siblings -- Mary, Martha, James, Thomas, Margaret, Lucinda, Felix, and Rachel -- and one younger sister -- Emily (or Emma) Maglone. After her mother's death (sometime before 1870), her father remarried and Elsie gained two more younger half-brothers, John and William.
On 22 January 1885, in Noble, Richland County, Illinois, USA, Elsie married her first husband, Hugh M. Tucker, son of James Tucker and Frances Toliver. They had one daughter together, Laura E. Tucker, born 07 March 1887 in Noble, Illinois, and then Hugh died. His exact death date and burial location is unknown.
On 28 November 1889, Elsie married again -- this time to Hugh's first cousin, Abraham Douglas Tucker, son of Joseph Tucker and Nancy Bedwell. Abe had previously been married to Elsie's first cousin, Clara "Carrie" Dickey (daughter of James Dickey and Mary Maglone), but Carrie also died young, leaving Abe a widower with a young daughter to raise, Julia May Tucker. The two daughters, May and Laura, were double second cousins to each other, but now they became step-sisters in the new merged family. Abe and Elsie had a third child together, a son, Corta Emery Tucker, born in 1893.
Abe was a farmer, and then later a clerk. They continued to live in Noble, Illinois. Their children all married. Laura married a minister, Charles Ealy, in 1906, and had three sons, Abraham, Charles (died in infancy) and Marvin. In 1909, May married Dan Hemrich; they continued to live in the area but had no children themselves. Finally, in 1919, Corta married Ethel Foster, and they also had three sons: Donald, Douglas, and Ray Dean (died in 1951).
Abe died on 29 March 1937 in Noble Township, Richland County, Illinois, USA. He was 80 years old. He was buried in Hanna Cemetery on the first of April, 1937. Elsie lived as a widow for another 16 years, and then she died herself in Noble, Illinois, on the 8th of May, 1953. She was buried in Hanna Cemetery, next to her second husband, Abraham Tucker, on 11 May 1953.
Her obituary was printed in the Olney Advocate on Thursday, 14 May 1953:
Mrs. Elsie E. Tucker, age 86, the widow of A.D. Tucker, passed away Friday at her home in Noble.
She is survived by three children: Corta Tucker, Mrs. Laura Ealey and Mrs. May Hemrich, all of Noble. There are four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Noble Christian church with Rev. Charles Railsbeck in charge. Burial was in the Hanna cemetery, northwest of Noble.
