- Martha E. Rutter, daughter of John and Rhoda Rutter, was born November 28, 1852, near Xenia, Illinois and died at the home of her oldest daughter, Mrs. Ida McConnell, at Louisville, Illinois, April 29th, 1928; age 75 years, 5 months and 1 day.
She was married to John C. Hudelson, September 1, 1870, and to this union was born five daughters: Ida May, Rhoda Jemima, Loretta, Aletha and Bertha; three of whom preceded her in death---Althea, five months old; Loretta, wife of James H. Davis; Bertha, wife of Homer Holaday. Her husband, who was a Civil War veteran, died May 3rd, 1915.
She united with the Xenia Prairie United Presbyterian church about 1877 and remained a faithful member until her death. After moving to Xenia she has been associated with the Methodist church and was faithful in her attendance upon the services of the church as long as health permitted. She was a member of the Home Department of the Louisville M. E. Sabbath school.
She leaves to mourn her departure, two daughters, Ida M. McConnell of Louisville, Illinois, Rhoda Jemima Cantrell of Iola, Illinois, a half sister, Mrs. Laura Anderson of Xenia, Illinois, a half brother, Mr. F. W. Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri and other relatives.
