1931-2011
Phyllis M. Brame, 79, passed from this life to her heavenly reward on February 22, 2011. She died at home after a long struggle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. Visitation will precede the services at 10 a.m. Pastors Derrell Brame III and Larry Weber will be officiating. Private interment of ashes will be at a later date. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brame was born June 25, 1931, in Anderson, Ind., to William and Grace (Petty) Hendricks. She married Derrell A. Brame Jr. on June 20, 1954.
During her life she was a devoted wife and mother. Her life was committed to following her Savior Jesus Christ and serving others through many volunteer activities over the years. She was a member of Elm Street Christian Church and RMH Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Derrell of 56 years; son, Derrell A. (Cindee) Brame III, of Olney, Ill.; son, David A. (Wanda) Brame, of Chesnee, S.C.; brother, Myron "Bud" (Nancy) Hendricks, of Greenfield, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Derrell A. (Emily) Brame IV, of Mt. Carmel, Dr. Jason W. (Andrea) Brame, of Paducah, Ky., Amanda C. Brame, of Olney, Ill., Amy N. Brame, of St. Louis, Mo., Kristi L. Brame, of Waverly, Ill., Thomas B. (Nicki) Brame Jr., of Carterville, Ill., and Kenneth (Kim) Brame, of Anna, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Derrell A. "Alex" Brame; Austin G. Brame; Malaki Vaughn, Nathan T. Brame; Tyson W. Brame and Courtney A. Brame. As well, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace; a brother, Carl; a sister, Margaret and a son, Thomas B. Brame Sr.
Phyllis' family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Southeastern Illinois and Senior Citizens for their support and compassionate care for us all.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois and Elm Street Christian Church.
