  Sara E. Cooper, 89, of Xenia, IL died at 9:34 PM Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL. She was born March 29, 1922 in Oskaloosa Township, IL to Forrest J. & Ruth (Gammon) Anderson. She married Vernon R. Cooper October 1947 in Friendship, NY. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1989. She was a farmwife, served in the U.S.Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class, and was a member of the Xenia United Methodist Church. After high school, Mrs. Cooper attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, IN. In 1941 she went to work for the Department of War, 6th Ordinance District in Cincinnati, OH and then advanced and was promoted to Washington, D.C.. She then joined the U.S. Navy and served from August 1943 to December 1945. She is survived by a daughter: Janice Frost; son: Gary Cooper; 3 grandchildren, Jamie Kemmerer, Travis Cooper, and Laura Blomme;and three great-grandchildren. . She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday (May 3, 2011) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Oskaloosa Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to Oskaloosa Cemetery Fund.
