- Paul Fehrenbacher, age 81, died peacefully at home on October 20, 2014.
He was born on November 15, 1932 in Wendelin, IL. He attended Southern Illinois University and served in the US Air Force as a pilot. He was a retired aerospace engineer from McDonnell Douglas. Paul was an avid sailor and enjoyed spending time on the water.
He is survived by his wife Jennie (nee Gale); sisters Donna (Larry) Kirts of Robinson, IL, and Mary Jo (Avery) McKinney of Olney, IL; children Dan (Mary) Fehrenbacher of Ft. Mitchell, KY, Tami (Terry) Gaido of Leonardtown, MD, and Randy Fehrenbacher of Corpus Christi, TX; stepchildren David (Dianora) Crowther and William (Patricia) Crowther of Suwannee GA; Susan (Cris) Baillargeon of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Paul, Kate, James, and Mark Fehrenbacher, Josie (Jeff) Bailey, Sam and Luke Gaido; Michael, Nicholas and Steven Crowther; Cris and Carey Baillargeon. He had one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Barnes (daughter of Carey Baillargeon and Mike Barnes)
Paul is preceded in death by his wife Romona (nee Bach); father Lawrence Fehrenbacher, mother Dorothy (nee Desch), brother Tom Fehrenbacher, and grandson Jacob Gaido.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington with a reception to follow at 181 Hilltop Lane, Washington, NC.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Inzerillo, the nurses and staff of the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center and Dr. Richard Young and staff of Vidant Internal Medicine. They would also like to thank the nurses, aides and therapists from Bayada and Gentiva.
