  He farmed and lived his entire life near West Salem. On April 12, 1916, he was married to Theo E. Schoenert at Albion. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last year. To this couple were born two children, a son and a daughter. Baptized in infancy, he confirmed his faith in Christ on March 31, 1912, and became a member of the local Moravian Church. He remained a good and faithful member of that congregation throughout his life. He was also a member of the Big Brothers Sunday School Class. Failing health and strength had been his lot during the past year or more. He suffered a heart attack and departed this life at Wabash General Hospital, Mt. Carmel, at noon on Saturday, April 2, 1977 at the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 1 day. He had been hospitalized earlier that day.
