- FARMER CITY - Paul Franklin, 85, of Farmer City died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday (April 22, 1997) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, the Rev. Lee Reed officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, rural Champaign. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a Knights of Pythias service at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; two daughters, Ranella Wills, Bloomington; and Elaine Duffner, Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sons, Lynn Franklin, Farmer City; and Leslie Franklin, Urbana; one brother, Woodrow Franklin, Marshfield, Moissouri; one sister, Genevieve Occhi, Cuba, Moissouri; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Franklin was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Sailor Springs, a son of Bary and Laura Rodgers Franklin. He married Elsie Tarter on Dec. 19, 1931, in DeLand.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Weedman United Methodist Church, rural Farmer City. He also was a member of the Kenilworth Lodge 60 Knights of Pythias, Farmer City, and the DeWitt County Farm Bureau.
