  William "Bill" Hemphill, 63, of Flora, died May 18, 1997, at Marion Veterans Hospital. Hemphill was born May 14, 1934, in Overland, MO, the son of Harry and Iris Martin Hemphill. He married Dallas Franklin January 11, 1958, in Flora. He was a Korean War veteran, an area brick mason, and a member of the Flora American Legion Post, Flora Elks Lodge and Bricklayers Local #8 of Illinois. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Diane Hemphill, Linda Knapp, and Stacey Earleywine; two brothers, Harry and Harold; a sister, Marie Lamonds; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Hemphill. Services were held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with burial in Clay City Cemetery.
