Who I am: :

I'm a retired United States Army First Sergeant and a Vietnam Veteran.

I'm also a retired United States Army High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Instructor for Denver Public Schools in Denver, Colorado.

I'm a member of Clay County, Illinois Genealogy Society (Louisville, Illinois) and Richland County, Illinois Genealogy Society (Olney, Illinois)

My interests include genealogy, history and technology.

Purpose of this website: :

For years, I knew very little about my ancestors or where they came from. Consequently, I've spent many years researching, collecting, verifying, and yes, sometimes even discarding information from many sources.

Many people have helped and guided me along the way and to them, I am most grateful.

In addition to my own genealogy, I'm compiling the histories of families from my hometown of Clay City, Illinois and their extended families

I'm also compiling the histories of our military veterans from Clay, Effingham, Richland, and Wayne Counties, Illinois and their extended families. I salute them for their service and their many sacrifices

My content comes from many different sources and surely contains some errors. I will correct those errors as they are discovered.

William Gray and Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Yauch were married in 1893. They had 7 children: Lucinda, Nettie, Henry, Jasper, Lydia, Hester, and Gleason

John Riley Graham and Rebecca Isabelle Hornick were married in 1879. They had 3 children. Baby, Nellie, and Nica.

John Albert Luke (1861-1919)

John Albert Luke was the son of William David and Barbara Luke. He was married twice and fathered 14 children.

Margaret (Maglone) McDowell (1857-1890)

Margaret was the daughter of James and Polly Maglone. She married John William McDowell and was the mother of 6 children.
