    NEWTON - Ralph Dean Brooks, 78, of Newton died at 10:25 p.m. Friday (Jan. 13, 2012) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Mark Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be at Brooks Cemetery in Newton with military rites by the Jasper Post 20 American Legion. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today (Jan. 18) at the funeral home. He was born July 24, 1933, in Jasper County, the son of Victor and Beulah Cox Brooks. Survivors include one son, Dennis Brooks of Newton; two daughters, Deania Trimble of Newton, and Doris Facer of Paris; one brother, Larry Brooks of Newton; two sisters, Sharon Gerber of Champaign, and Wanda Brackett of Tuscon; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Brooks was formerly employed with United Technologies Automotive in Newton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund.
