LOUISVILLE — Harry "Dale" Backs, 81, of Louisville died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

Mr. Backs was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Mason, the son of Henry Fred and Laura Hill Backs. He married Edna Belle Summers on Sept. 15, 1946, in Louisville, and she survives.

Survivors include son, Dale Eugene "Sonny" Backs of Lawrence, Kan.; daughters, Pamela Huff of Flora and Annette Garrity of Clementon, N.J.; brother, Raymond Backs of Effingham; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Backs.

Funeral services were at Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, with burial in Old Union Cemetery, rural Louisville.
