    Earl Edwin Payne, 79, of Olney, IL, formerly of Clay City, died May 20, 2006, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    Mr. Payne was born April 9, 1927 in Clay County, the son of Crawford and Bertha Earhart Payne. He married Famie Gray January 11, 1953.

    He was a retired meat cutter and member of Clay City First Baptist church. He was a U. S. Army veteran, and a member of Olney Oddfellows, and Sailor Springs American Legion.

    Survivors include his wife; a daughter Earlene Cunningham; a son, David Payne; a brother, Sherman Payne; a sister, Dorothy Brown; and two grandchildren.

    Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, Robert, Walter, Glen, and Ralph; and two sisters, Amy Grabowski and Edna Wyatt.

    Funeral services were held at Clay City First Baptist Church with burial in Clay City Cemetery.

    Graveside military rites were handled by the Sailor Springs American Legion.

    Summers-Kistler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Famie Pearl Payne, 85, of Olney, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL.

    She was born on December 10, 1931 in Clay City, IL, the daughter of Henry and Maude (Payne) Gray.

    She married Earl Edwin Payne on January 11, 1953 in Clay City, IL. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2006.

    Famie managed the Oddfellows campground in Clay City for two years. She enjoyed playing bingo and being around people.

    Famie is survived by her daughter, Earlene (Dave) Cunningham; son, David Wayne Payne; grandchildren, Jason (Shana) Cunningham and Aaron Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Avalyn and Donevan; sister, Clarabelle Kittle; and several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Ralph, Johnny, Eugene, and Ray Dean Gray.

    Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association.
