    Entered active service as a draftee on May 13, 1943 at Fort Custer, Michigan. Selected for the Quartermaster Corps, completed basic training and eventually qualified in The Military Occupational Specialty of Duty Soldier Iii (590). Departed the Continental U.S. on February 27, 1944 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 970th Quartermaster Service Company through The Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Earned The Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze battle stars and The WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on January 21, 1946 at The Separation Center, Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
