    Notes:

Sarah Catharine Luse was born in Guernsey Co., Ohio Oct. 27, 1847. She was the oldest of twelve children bom to Joseph and Elizabeth Luse. She came with her parents to Clay county, Illinois the fall of 1864. Was married to Edward Higginson, April, 18, 1866.

To this union was born ten children. Three daughters dying in infancy and one daughter. Mrs. Liszie Carroll, three years ago during the flu epidemic.

Four daughters and two sons survive her. Mrs. H. W. Shriner and Mrs. L. E. Campbell of tbis city. Mrs. Jesse Soper, of Bement, Ills.; Mrs. T. E. King, of East St. Louis; W. E. Higginson, of Colorado Springs Col.; J. A. Higginson ot Paxton, III.

Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond Dec. 15, 1885 leaving seven children. The mother and children stayed on the farm until the education of the children prompted her to move to this city in 1895.

She Joined the Christian church when a girl in Ohio. Soon after coming to this state she with her parents, brothers and sisters placed her membership with the Flora church. She was ever faithful and much concerned about her Father's business.

Her life was so consecrated and exemplary that her entire family followed in her foot steps and are all members of the Christian church.

When the church felt the need of a new building there was no one more eager and anxious to do their part than she. We remember so well how happy she was the day this church was dedicated. Her daughter, Mrs. Ettle Soper, was the first to be married in the new building and her daughter-ln-law, Mrs. H. E. Higglnson's funeral was the first funeral in the new building. The life of Sister Higginson was an Inspiration to us all. Her kind deeds and cheering words will live on and on in the minds ot those who knew her. At the time of her departure of the life she was the oldest member we had in our congregation. Serving the Master more years than any of us! Her fnneral perhaps will be the last in the old church she loved and worshiped in so long.

After a life of love and devotion the end came peacefully at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Soper, of Bement, Aug. 24 1921, aged 73 yrs., 9 mo. and 27 days.

She was patient and faithful through her Illness of about two years and has gone to her reward.

She leaves besides her Immediate family, three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Sheehan, of Kansas City Mo.; Mrs. Linnie Stanford, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Alice Bothwell, of St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. J. E. Luse, of Salem, Ind.; Mr. J. M. Luse, of Flora, III.; C. L. Luse in the west; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

We can truly say "She fought a good fight, she finished her course and kept the faith, henceforth there is a crown ot righteousness laid up for her."

The funeral was from the Christian church Friday, p. m., Aug. 26, 1921,
conducted by U. S. Johnson, of Carbondale, her former pastor. Interment
    in Jenkins cemetery.
