    Mrs. Claude (Emma Constance Duff) Fields, 102, of Broken Arrow, Okla., formerly of Clay City, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 1981) in Tulsa, Okla.

    Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Clay City Cemetery, Clay City. No visitation. Cardascio Funeral Home, Clay City, is in charge.

    Mrs. Fields was born in Clay City, daughter of James Newton and Emma Duff. She and her husband operated a furniture store for years in Broken Arrow, Okla. She married Claude Fields. He died in 1973.

    Surviving are her sons, David of Tulsa, Okla.; Howard of Grants Pass, Ore.; daughters, Mildred Warren of Panacea, Fla.; Mary Grace Tucker of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren.

    James was united in marriage to Miss Emma Brissenden January 7, 1875. Seven children were born to this union, six daughters: Mrs, H. E, Murray, Mrs. W. A. Smith, and Mrs. Claude Fields, there was also a son: Robert Earl.

    Mr. Duff served as a Pvt. in the 1st North Carolina Cavalry, CSA. Other sources indicate that James Duff was a 1st Serg. in Co.F and Co.A 6th North Carolina Cavalry,and in Co.F,7th Battalion North Carolina Cavalry , CSA .

    James N. Duff was the brother- in - law of David G. Tilley , and their burial plots are side by side .

    Emma Brissenden Duff is the daughter of William Brissenden (1808 ENG - 1881 IL) and Eliza Bunting Brissenden (1815 ENG - 1887 IL).

    Miss Emma Brissenden married James Newton Duff January 7, 1875. They are parents of seven children.

    Mrs. Emma B. Duff, 85 years old, of Clay City, Illinois, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Smith, 1729 West Twenty-first street, after a brief illness.

    She is survived by six daughters, one son, two brothers and a sister.

    The body will be sent by the Hahn Funeral Home to Clay City for funeral services and burial.
