    When Johnn was 23 Baden began 7 yrs of vicious war. It is possible that he went to America to escape military service. Once on the frontier in N.C. he changed his name to John Nicholas Gibbs. Most likely he was a regulator and probably saw service in the patriot militia during the War of Independence.(see Henry H Sharp). For his military service he was awarded land in Tenn

    Married at 19 she bore at least 9 children, raised them and kept a farm on the edge of the frontier 7 yrs of which was under attack by the Cherokee, She died aged 88 obviously a very resilent lady.
