    He was the son of Carroll Dryden and Allene Evans Conley Duff. He married Ginger Osborn in Ingraham on October 14, 1955. He was the father of Carroll Dean and Kimberly Sue Duff. Grandfather of Braxton and Preston French.

    He attended Clay City Baptist church and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited and past Clay City Volunteer Fireman, serving over 30 years.

    Charles D. Duff, 65, of Clay City, died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.

    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday,April 27, at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home, Flora, IL. Burial was in the Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, IL.

    C. D. Duff was born in Old
    Maysville, Illinois, October 16,
    1855. After the death of his fath-
    er, he, then six months old, re-
    turned with his mother to Tennes-
    see, in a covered wagon, where he
    lived until 21 years of age.

    He then returned to Clay City
    and was employed as a store clerk
    by two uncles, R. E. and ,T. N.
    Duff. After the death of R. E.
    Duff in 1877, J. N. Duff and C. D,
    Duff continued the business under
    the firm name of J. N. Duff &
    Company until 1888 when C. D.
    Duff sold bis interest in the store
    and soon thereafter entered into
    business with J. T. Evans & Com-
    pany. In 1907 Dr. J. T. Evans
    sold his interest in the business to
    his son, C. D. Evans, and the firm's
    name was changed to Duff & Evans, which
    continued business until 1911 when
    C. D. Evans sold his interest to John W. Duff, at which time the business has been
    conducted under the firm name of
    C. D. & J. W. Duff, father and
    son, and includes a second son.
