    The Pantagraph (Bloomington, Illinois) 04 Jun 1973, Mon. p. 8:

    LINCOLN -- William T. Finley, 43, of 390 Northgate, died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday at his home. He had been under a doctor's care.

    Mr. Finley was a contractor in Lincoln.

    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wilson R. Forbush officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason.

    Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Holland and Barry Funeral Home and an hour before services at the church.

    He was born October 5, 1929, in Beason, a son of C.M. and Faye Lawler Finley. He married Maxine Shull Jan 14, 1955, in Springfield.

    Surviving are his wife; his son, Stuart, and a daughter, Tammy, at home; his parents, Beason; a sister, Mrs. Pat Owen, Morton, and a grandmother, Mrs. Minerva Finley, Beason.

    He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Eagles Lodge. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

    Mrs. William (Maxine Shull) Finley, 45, of Lincoln died 5:35 a.m. Saturday in Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

    Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church, Lincoln. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Holland & Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, and after 12:30 p.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason. Memorials: Brain Tumor Research Fund.

    Mrs. Finley was born in Lincoln, daughter of Garland and Clara Broch Shull. She was a registered nurse and a member of First United Methodist Church, Lincoln, and Rachel Circle of the United Methodist Women. She married William Finley in 1955. He died in 1973.

    Surviving are son, Stuart, at home; daughter, Tammy, at home; mother, Mrs. John Childers of New Holland; father of Paris, Mo.; brothers, Larry Shull of Waterloo; Donald Shull of Lincoln; Dean Shull of Morton; half-brother, Lloyd Shull of Phoenix, Ariz.

    Franklin C. Byers, 80, of Edgewood, died at 5:41 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 1998 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

    Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Burial was in Keen's Chapel Cemetery, rural Farina with graveside military rites. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, dec. 19 at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m.. Memorials may be pade to Iola Pentecostal Church, Iola, or the the donor's choice.

    Mr. Byers was born on June 5, 1918, in Clay County, near Iola the son of Hira and Jennie (Rufty) Byers. He married Eleanor M. Shumaker. He retired from the State of Illinois in 1984 from the Secretary of State Driver's License Facility in Flora. Had also been a farmer and worked in the oil field. He was a member and past Master of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge No. 484 in Edgewood, member and past commander of the Keeler-Adams American Legion Post No. 1168, Edgewood, former memmber of the Clay Electric board of directors for over 30 years, former member of North Clay Board of Education for many years, and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

    Surviving are his widow, Eleanor Byers of Edgewood; sons, Ronald and wife, Kathy Byers of Edgewood, and Troy Byers of Edgewood; one daughter, Debbie May of Sullivan; one brother and sister-in-law, Margaret and Edwin Haun of Louisville; three grandchildren' and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy and two sisters.

    Notes:

    Rev.Hira Byers, 81, of near Iola, well known Pentecostal minister of this area, died Wednesday morning at the St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham.

    Funeral services will be held in the United Pentecostal Chapel in Iola with burial in Keen's Chapel Cemetery, near Iola. Rev. Byers was a brother of the late Mrs. W. E. (Mamie) Smith of Olney and he was an uncle of Mrs. Thelma McClain of Olney.

    He entered ministry in 1912 and served as pastor of the United Pentecostal Church for 45 years. He married Jennie Rufty, June 12, 1915, Effingham.

    He leaves his wife: two sons, Franklin, Edgewood; Hira, Jr., Neoga; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Haum, Louisville; Mrs. Ruth Forbes, Barnhill; Mrs. Nona Dehart, Edgewood; 12 grandchildren; seven
    great-grandchildren.
