    It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Nella Ruth Cornwell of Lawrenceville, Illinois, who passed away on January 30, 2022, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends.     She was predeceased by : her parents, Barbara House (McDowell) and Francis House. She is survived by : her husband Jim; her son Tanner Ray Cornwell; her grandchildren, Neveah Rego, Nella Rego, Hunter Cornwell, Kaley Cornwell and Lydia Cornwell; and her brother Clay House of Olney, Illinois..

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 8th 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calvary Apostolic Church (IL-250, Lawrenceville, IL 62439). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 8th 2022 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

    Nella Ruth Cornwell 67 of Lawrenceville passed away at Wabash General Hospital, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

    She was born on October 6, 1954 to Barbara (McDowell) and Francis House in Olney, Illinois.

    “Ruth” married the love of her life James “Jim” Cornwell in 1980 and he survives.

    She was a loving wife, mother and wonderful homemaker.

    Ruth was a very dedicated member of the Calvary Apostolic Church.

    She is survived by loving husband Jim, her loving children Tanner Ray Cornwell of Lawrenceville Tabitha Joe Rego and husband Caleb of Robinson, Illinois, 5 grandchildren Neveah Rego, Nella Rego, Hunter Cornwell, Kaley Cornwell and Lydia Cornwell and 1 brother Clay House of Olney, Illinois.

    Ruth was preceded in death by her parents.

    The Memorial Service for Ruth will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 with a visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville with Pastor Donaldson officiating.

    Burial will be at a later date in the Olney Maple Dale Cemetery.

Retired from self-employment as a logger, he was a member of the United Pentecostal church in Vincennes and a veteran of World War II. He was born Aoril 3, 1920, in Missouri to William and Mary Cornwell. Surviving are his wife, Pauline ( Goldman ) Cornwell; six sons, Jack of New Harmony, Robert of Mount Comfort, Virgil of Snyder, Texas, James of Claremont, Ill., and David and Clarence Jr. of Hazelton; four daughters; Carol Ledet of Port Arthur, Texas, Jeannette Pond and Joetta Bottoms of Vincennes and Mary Arthur of Spencer; a brother, Raymond, East Prairie, Mo; 33 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A son is deceased. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Flummerfelt-Goodwin Funeral Home.

    Barbara L. House, 85, of Olney, formerly of Clay City, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

    Barbara was born on April 19, 1935 in Clay City, Illinois to Clayson A. and Nella "Grace" (Luke) McDowell. She married Francis House on March 24, 1954 in Olney, IL, and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1999.

    Barbara worked at the Shoe Factory, Kralis Poultry, and later retired from Champion Labs. She enjoyed going to bible study at Master's Hands in Olney. Barbara also enjoyed getting together with her family. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Canasta, and was a champion Zilch player, but she was unable to play as much during her later years. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

    Barbara is survived by her daughter Ruth (Jim) Cornwell; Son, Clay House; Grandchildren, Tanner Cornwell and Tabitha (Caleb) Rego; Great-Grandchildren, Lydia Cornwell, Kaley Cornwell, Hunter Cornwell, Nella Rego, and Nevaeh Rego; Siblings, Nella (Woody) Dilley, Ronnie (Wanda) McDowell, and Leona Mae McDowell, and several nieces and nephews.

    Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Sisters, Dorothy Bricker, Hazel "Habe" Clark, Joann McDowell, Betty Lemons, and Linda "Kay" Lomas; Brothers, Adrian McDowell and Glen McDowell; Infant Grandchild, Damon Thompson; Infant Great-Grandchildren, Saxton Israel Rego and Josiah James Rego.

    A Memorial Service will be held for Barbara at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral in Olney. A Visitation will begin two hours before service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.

    Memorials can be made to Master’s Hands.
