  Mark was born on September 28, 1939 in Kankakee, IL. He attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he met Linda Sunday, the ultimate love of his life. Mark and Linda were married in Kankakee, Illinois on June 6, 1964. They initially lived in Peoria, Illinois and after a few initial jobs in Illinois, Mark accepted a position with Eastman Kodak Company in 1967 and off he went with Linda and their two year old son Andy to relocate to Rochester, New York. Their daughter Stacey came along one year later and the growing Yeates family settled into Rochester as their home base for years to come. Outside of work Mark had a number of varied interests and passions. He was influential in the Dixieland music scene across Western New York, being a founding member of the Rochester Jazz Society. He played drums and sang along with his band the Bourbon Street Parade for over 25 years. His love of motorcycles and cars grew as he weaved his way through an extensive assortment of different rides over the years - with his Corvettes being robustly enjoyed by his two children. He was an avid tennis player and became a founding owner of the Mendon Valley Tennis Club. His passion for food and wine had him and Linda actively involved in the Rochester "Gourmet Club" which included a number of their close friends and many a great meal. Mark ultimately retired from Eastman Kodak Company in 1992 at the young age of 53 after spending 25 years in several roles in Marketing and Advertisement. He also served his country through six years of service in the National Guard with responsibilities spanning across Peoria, Illinois and Rochester, New York. After retirement Mark and Linda became snowbirds splitting their time between Rochester and various parts of Florida. They ultimately gave up their Rochester roots and moved full time to Sarasota, Florida in 1994. In his retirement he continued his passion for playing tennis, started remodeling homes, getting out on his boat, enjoying global travel and cruising, and simply being the social director everyone loved to be with - as his passion for life was highly contagious. Keeping his business skills honed, he was the Co-President of the Coral Cove Civic Association for 15 years. He was an active member of St. Thomas More Church and volunteered his time at the Saint Vincent DePaul thrift store and the Florida Studio Theater. Mark was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Doreen Yeates, brother Harry Yeates, sisters Gloria Yeates and Judy Considine. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Linda, his two children, and six grandchildren. Mark was an outgoing, thoughtful, kind man and loved his family with his whole heart. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. There is a void in our hearts since he left us but we will all do our best to honor him by living the life he would want for us - and remember him fondly each time we raise a glass for a mimosa toast. A memorial mass for Mark will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL) on Thursday, January 5th at 2:00. A broader celebration of Mark's life will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:30 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Mary's Memorial Garden.
