    • Edgar C. "Ed" Sarvis, 91, Salina, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004.

      Mr. Sarvis was born August 14, 1912, at Brewster. He was a salesman for Leidigh and Havens Lumber Company and Larson Building Center, both of Salina. He was a member of The University United Methodist Church, The Methodist Men, The Salvation Army Advisory Board, The Salina Kiwanis Club, The National and Kansas State Rifle Association, The Quivera Gun Club, a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post #1432, the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, and the Salina Men's Golf Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific as a "storekeeper" aboard the Destroyer Escort, The USS Leland E. Thomas.

      He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zella; his second wife, Lucile; a son, John; and two stepsons, Jack Haney and Bob Haney.

      Survivors included a sister, Rita Cole of Carmichael, CA; a special friend, Audre Bird of Salina; three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 14 great step-grandchildren.

      The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the University United Methodist Church, Salina. Inurnment with military honors by the V.F.W. Post #1432 will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

      Memorials may be made to the University United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army, Salina.
