    • Goldie Pearl (Braden) Wilson Lane

      Mrs. Pearl Braden Lane, 91, formerly of 704 W. Jefferson, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

      She once was secretary to Delmar D. Darrah, founder of the American Passion Play. He died in 1945.

      The funeral for Mrs. Lane will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Beck Memorial Home. The Rev. David Goss will officiate.

      A graveside service is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Maroa Cemetery.

      Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Beck Memorial Home.

      She was born in Maroa Oct. 1, 1879, a daughter of Soloman G. and Sarah Kershner Braden. Her first marriage was to Thomas J. Wilson in 1900. She married V.G. Lane in 1927 at St. Louis, Mo. He died in November, 1951.

      Surviving are two sons, David Wilson, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Harold Wilson, 1609 E. Taylor; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by a daughter, sister, and three brothers.

      She was a member of the First Christian Church and a past member of the Eastern Star. She was a 1920 graduate of Illinois State University.

      The family requested memorials to the church building fund.

      ======

      The following information was provided by a previous manager of this memorial or by another Find a Grave contributor:

      only death date listed in book is 19__

      Her name is Goldie Pearl Braden (Braden is her maiden name, and she always seemed to go by Pearl). She was born in Illinois. Her first husband was Thomas Jefferson Wilson (1879-1964), but they divorced before the 1920 census. She had married her second husband before the 1930 census.

      The second husband is also buried in this cemetery (and you have the listing for him). Perhaps they have a shared headstone? Anyway, her husband was Valantous Green Lane, born 01 Oct 1875 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, son of William and Margaret (Hamble) Lane. His first name was spelled Valantous on his WWI draft registration card, but it's been spelled differently on every record I've seen -- Volantus, Volutus, etc. I'm taking the spelling that was on his WWI draft card, but the burial name works well, too.

      Thought you might like to make these listings more complete.

      cheers,
      Kirsty Haining
