  Jesse died after being hit by a car on November 18, 1969 in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted by Reverend John Graham. He was buried on December 9, 1969 in the Zif Cemetery, Zif Township, Wayne County, Illinois. His burial was delayed due to the time involved in locating his relatives.
