- Ruth Jackson Holstrum passed away on December 24, 2013 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. She was 99.
Ruth was born on September 22, 1914 in Odin, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Violet (Crane) Jackson.
She married Chester L. Holstrum and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1988.
Ruth was active in the quilting group at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a 50+ year member of Home Extension and their blanket brigade. Ruth was also a leader in the Girl Scouts and a member of the Girl Scout Council.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Childers of Olney; daughter, Roberta Holstrum of Olney; daughter, Janice Poff and husband Marshel of Chillicothe, IL; son, James Holstrum and wife Becky of Olney; grandchildren, Raymond Childers of Kamuela, HI; Jan Marie Burton and husband Mark of Albuquerque, NM; Amy Jo Childers of Urbana, IL; Laura Schaufelberger and husband Dave of Chillicothe, IL; John Poff and wife Susan of Chillicothe, IL; Jason Holstrum and wife Kim of Olney; Mark Holstrum of Olney; 11 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, sister, and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Olney Public Library.
