Thomas married Charlotte Shelby on 14 Jul 1836 in Shelby Precinct, Edwards Co. Illinois. Charlotte was born on 10 Apr 1819 in North Carolina. She died on 8 Aug 1887 in Shelby Precinct, Edwards Co., Illinois. When first married they lived 1 mile south of Calhoun Rd in Lawrence Co.(now Richland) and 1 mile East of Route 130 near his parents.
