- Olive Mae Hall passed away the evening of January 10, 2015 with family gathered at her bedside. Olive was born to Charley and Gladys Wilder in Ponder, MO on July 5th, 1938. She was the 3rd born out of 6 children, and their first born daughter.
The best word to describe Olive is "strong"... She was a 36yr breast cancer survivor and pressed on when she became a widow and single mom of 3 at the age of 41.
In 1962, Olive married the love of her life, Jim Hall, and went on to expand their family by adding 2 sons and a daughter to the mix. More than anything, Olive loved her family. As a married couple, Olive and Jim looked forward each year to fishing season and spending their time out on their boat. They also enjoyed bowling on a couples league each week and Saturday night pinochle games with their best friends. Olive was also an avid reader, crafter and could always be found with a word search book near by! She loved to give back without making it known. She would often bake goodies for the local fire department as appreciation for all they do for the community. She also volunteered and then worked for the East County Senior Center here in Monroe.
Olive worked in many industries. As a child she could be found in the cotton fields picking cotton. As a young adult she worked in a shoe factory and in the 1960's worked for Boeing. After a hiatus to spend time with her family and be a mom and wife, she ventured back into the working world to work at Eve's Buffet, a small eatery that was inside each Fred Meyer store. She worked her way up and became a manager at the Bellevue, Wa location and then moved on to the Totem Lake store. As the stores began to close, she chose to move on and became the manager of a small cafe at Tall Chief Golf Course in Fall City, WA. This opportunity highlighted her many gifts and skills and she was able to really shine and excel. She took a small, disorganized cafe and through hard work, turned it in to a well oiled machine. In the late 90's, Olive decided it was time to leave the working world and spend time with her family, it was at this time that she moved to Monroe, WA.
Olive is preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmie D. Hall, her son Jefferey D. Hall, her parents Charley and Gladys Wilder, her 3 brothers, Donnie Ray Wilder, C.A. Wilder and Paul Wilder.
Olive has left behind a legacy of many who love and miss her her. She leaves behind her son Scott Hall and his wife Maricella Hall of Mill City, OR, daughter Lori Munro of Monroe, WA. Two step sons, Ronald Hall and Rick Hall and her step daughter, Dorinda. She is also survived by a passel of grandchildren! Jillian (Ron), Jessica (Nate), Jenna (Jay), Kalie, Joshua (Desi), Harmony, Ron (Jessi), Ronnie, Barbie, Travis, Jinnie, Holly and Missy. She was also a great grandma to Tyson, Toby, Kylie, Danika, Jayden, Owen, Onnalea and Jai! She also leaves behind her lifelong best friends, her sisters; Dora Dillon and Barb Hovis, both of Doniphan, MO.
While we grieve and have much sorrow at Olive's passing, we also rejoice in the fact that she is whole again!
