- James E. Steele, 72, of Flora, died at 12:58 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2003, at his home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Funeral services
will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.
Mr. Steele was born on October 20, 1930, in Marshall, Texas, the son of James Wesley and Eula (Smith) Steele. He married Barbara Williams on July 4, 1951, in Georgia. She survives.
He served for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force as a radar technician. He was employed as a maintenance engineer for Southwire, Anaconda and Fleur-Danniels.
Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, Barbara Steele, of Greenville, S.C.; his step-mother, Maxine Steele, of
Flora; four children, James W. Steele and his wife, Shelby, of Greenville, S.C., ^Robert' Steele and his wife, Dolly, of Austin, Texas, Karen Klein and her husband, Tony, of Fairview Heights, and Michael Steele
and his wife, Myra, of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Pat Barber and her husband, Gary, of Flora; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be made to Clay County Cancer Support Group.
