  • Notes
    • June Cheri Cook, age 75, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, May 24, 2024, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

Cheri was born on February 23, 1949, in Xenia, the daughter of Kenneth Reed and Lillian Rebecca (Lee) Caudle. On October 19, 1968, she married David W. Cook in Flora, and they shared 55 wonderful years together.

Cheri had worked as an Activity Director for local nursing homes. She was dedicated to helping others through volunteer work and contributing to various endeavors. Cheri's appreciation for the outdoors and her artistic flair were evident in her bright and creative paintings, which adorned many objects. Together with David, she was a member of the Studebaker Club, and she also enjoyed taking her beautifully restored Ford Coupe for a drive. Cheri's love for music and her guitar was a constant source of inspiration for her. She delighted in karaoke singing and frequently shared her musical talents with nursing home residents, filling many hours with mutual joy and smiles. A longtime member of Shiloh Church of Christ in Louisville, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Cheri's family, especially her sons and grandchildren, were her greatest joy and source of pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her husband: David Cook of Xenia; 2 sons: Jason (Tanya) Cook of Xenia and Nate Cook (Jennifer) of Flora; 6 grandchildren: Cody (Felicia) Lane, Michael (Tiffany) Lane, Kaylee, Adara Williams (Gavin Kemp), Cloey Powless (Will Lehman), and Hunter Powless; 2 great-grandchildren: Bentley and Tenzley; 2 sisters: Jackie Sue MacArthur and Pat (Steve) Henry; 2 brothers: Joe Caudle and Mike (Tina) Caudle; 3 sisters-in-law: Donna Caudle, Darlene (Jamey) Grimsley, and Arlene (Jim) Zenisek; as well as nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

She was preceded in passing by her parents: Kenneth and Lillian Caudle; 2 sisters: Glenda Underwood and Carmen Lane; and 2 brothers: Jim Caudle and Kenneth Lee Caudle.

A visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Private interment will take place later at Campground Cemetery, Xenia. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
