- Ronald James "Slim" Collins, 65, of Noble, died at 9:38 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Mr. Collins was born August 28, 1946, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Frank and Agnes (Doucette) Collins. He married Doiletta "Dot" Tarr on April 16, 1972, in Los Angeles, Calif. She survives.
He had worked as a police officer in Robinson and a correctional officer in Joliet. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Dot Collins; son, Ronald Collins; daughter, Rheta Earp; daughter, Rachel Cook; son-in-law, Marty Miller; mother-in-law, Rheta Tarr; uncle, John Hamilton; sisters, Ruth Warosh and Susan Willis; grandsons, Coty Collins, James Bailey and Ronald Collins II; stepgrandchildren, Aaron, Devon, Nathan, Melinda and Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; mother, Agnes; stepfather, Wesley Allen (who raised him from a very young age); father-in-law, Doyal Tarr; and two brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Noble. Funeral services will be at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery with full military rites by Olney veterans organizations.
Memorials may be made to the family.
