    • Clarence Ray "C.R." Carver, age 80, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015, at his home.

      C.R. was born September 2, 1934, in Todd County, KY, the son of Clarence and Eva (Cannon) Carver. He was united in marriage to Jean Slaughter on December 13, 1954, in Muhlenberg County, KY, and they shared 60 anniversaries together.

      He worked as a freight agent for Norfolk & Southern Railway for 41 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Flora. C.R. was a Master Mason and 50 Year Lifetime Member of Hermitage Lodge #356 in Albion. Above all, his love for family will be remembered.

      He is survived by his loving wife: Jean Carver; daughter: Denise (Mike) Wood; son: Eric (Kathy) Carver; six grandchildren: Rory (Kaci) O’Dell, Mina Wood, Alan Wood, Will Wood, John Carver, and Lauren Carver; a great-grandson: Jett O’Dell; and a beloved friend, Jessie, his cat.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Ada Spence; nephew: Daryl Spence; and aunt: Bonnie Ewing.

      A funeral service for C.R. Carver was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with interment in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home, with Masonic rites.

      Memorial donations to Clay County Hospice or First Baptist Church of Flora.
