Notes - Riley C. Bailey, age 79, of 201 N. Mulberry Street, passed away this morning at Richland Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Bailey was born in Clark County the son of Balsam Bailey and Martha A. Misner Bailey.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Thomas on Jan. 24, 1928.
He was a veteran of World War One and served in the United States Army as a member of Battery "B", 6th, Regiment of the Field Artillery.
Mr. Bailey had been an employee of the Hocking Auto Parts several years ago and in his retirement he was a gunsmith and specialized in hand made gunstocks which were well known throughout the area.
He leaves his wife, Bertha, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Walker of Olney and 3 grandchildren. Other survivors are the following brothers and sisters: Everett Bailey of Kilburn, Robert Bailey of Havana, Harley Bailey of Springfield, Mrs. James (Lillie) Stacey and Mrs. Lela Locke, both of Olney, Mrs. Alvin (Nellie) Mathews of Forest City, Mrs. Dolph (Hazel) Bland and Mrs. Bernard (Dorothy) Bland, both of Greenup.
He was preceded in death by his parents: a grandson, Gary Stephen Scranton on Dec. 1, 1966: a brother, Charles: a sister, Hattie: and 2 infant brothers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. R. E. Dowden officiating. Interment in Haven Hill cemetery.
