  Mary E. Gray, 86, of Flora, formerly of Clay City, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Flora Gardens Care Center. Mrs. Gray was born Jan. 3, 1922 in Bible Grove, the daughter of Samuel and Dolly Mae (Burgett) Scammahorn. She married Eugene Gray in February 1951 in Clay City. He preceded her in death in November of 1987. She was a homemaker. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sharon Gray of Murphysboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Steve Stanford of Louisville, and Joanne and Alan Herdes of Clay City; three brothers, Norman Scammahorn of Okeechobee, Fla., Glen Scammahorn of Joliet, and Charles "Bub" Scammahorn of Clay City; one sister, Ninetta German of New York City, NY; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one sister, Helen Rudder, and one grandchild, Brian Stanford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City i the Rev. Brad Harris officiating. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery. Visitaion will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 19) at the funeral home.
