  Marvel Knowles is the son of David Knowles and Nancy Piper. Nancy Piper Knowles grave is unknown at this time. Born in Georgia, his family traveled en masse to southern Indiana with several other families, including the Marvels, Knowles, Wilson, and Montgomery families. He married his cousin, Elizabeth Ann Knowles, daughter of Prettyman Marvel Knowles and Patsy Greer, on 26 Jan 1828. They had 8 children: Riley, Hiram, Prettyman, Nancy S, John Warrick, Patsey, Andrew Jackson, and Verrelia T Knowles. Elizabeth died in 1880. Marvel then married Rebecca Boyd on 30 Jan 1882.
