  George Kenneth Roush, age 84, of Flora, IL passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his home in Flora. Kenny was born on April 20, 1929 in Louisville, IL, the son of DeFay Orin and Iva Hazel (Guinn) Roush. He married Vernal Coble on April 18, 1954 at First Christian Church in Flora. Kenny was an active and supportive member of First Christian Church in Flora. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked as a roughneck and driller in the oilfields, was a driver's license superintendent in several counties, and thoroughly enjoyed driving a school bus in later years for high school sporting events. His memberships included the Masons where he received his 50 year pin, Shrine, Kiwanis, and had been a member of Odd Fellows. Kenny and Vernal enjoyed bowling and owned the Flora Bowl for 10 years and for 20 years they have traveled to Texas for the winters. In addition to playing baseball, he also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. Kenny loved his family and truly loved being around children. Kenny is survived by his wife: Vernal Roush; a daughter: Kimberly Ranson (husband Steve); daughter-in-law: Janet Roush; brother-in-law: Don Lusk; three grandchildren: Chad Ranson (wife Abbi), Aaron Ranson (wife Leigh), and Amber Ranson; four great-grandchildren: Bella and Molly Ranson, Lily and Harper Ranson; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gregory, and a sister Norma Jean Lusk. The funeral service for Kenny Roush will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with his son-in-law Steve Ranson officiating with Ben VanHyning assisting. Interment will follow in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora, with military honors. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. (noon) - 2 p.m. on Thursday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church for their Mission Ministry.
