  Charles F. Powell, 82, formerly of Pekin and Mackinaw, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Sharon Elms Health Care in Peoria. Born Feb. 20, 1919, in Minier to Charles T. and Bessie Beckel Powell, he married Virginia C. Neuhaus on Feb. 20, 1948, in Pekin. She died Jan. 2, 1999. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Surviving are one son, Steve of Mackinaw; and three brothers, Robert and Harold, both of Pekin, and Carl of San Antonio, Texas. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked as a yard laborer at Caterpillar Inc. for eight years, retiring in 1983. Prior to that, he worked in the malt department at Standard Brands for 22 years. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Full obit in the Peoria Journal Star - Apr. 28, 2001.
