He was semi-retired from Illiopolis Grain Co., was an Illiopolis water superintendent, a former Illiopolis Village Board member and a former fire chief and served on the Ambulance Board of Directors. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of Illiopolis American Legion 508. He married Verda Young in 1942.
