    • Lloyd E. Mann, 93, of Oblong, IL passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11:07 p.m. at the Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.

      Born on January 31, 1922 in Oblong, IL. he was the son of Porter Wilson Mann and Grace Elizabeth (Vaughn) Mann. On August 4, 1946 he married Lucy Marion Warford and she survives. Lloyd and Lucy celebrated 68 years of marriage.

      Lloyd was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1940; served his country in the United States Army during WWII and a member of the First Christian Church of Oblong where he was baptized on May 26, 1946. After his discharge from the Army, he drove a school bus for the Oblong School district until he went to work for Marathon. Lloyd was employed as an instrument technician with Marathon for 36 years, retiring on February 1, 1984. He was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219; delivered Meals on Wheels and delivered church papers to the shut ins for many years. After his retirement, he enjoyed going to auctions and fixing “anything” for the price of a cherry pie. Lloyd loved spending time with his family and took care of Lucy for the last 10 years.

      Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lucy M. Mann of Oblong, IL.; three sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Carole Mann, Elberfeld, IN.; Jim and Judy Mann, Flora, IL.; and Fred Mann, Mt. Vernon, IL.; two daughters and a son-in-law Glenda Mann, Oblong, IL. and Janie and Ray Piersall, Hutsonville, IL.; 11 grandchildren and spouses: Kris and Kim Mann, Jeff and Kelli Mann, and Jennifer Mann, all of Evansville, IN.; Shanna and Matt Lotz, Brownsburg, IN.; Jay Mann, Nashville, TN.; Luke and Jessica Mann, La Vergne, TN.; Caleb Piersall, Santa Maria, CA.; Lesley and Josh Butcher, League City, TX.; Nathan and Heidi Piersall, Melrose, IL; Jon and Monica Piersall, Santa Maria, CA.; Stephen and Elizabeth Piersall, Friendswood, TX.; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Betty Alumbaugh, Oblong, IL; ad several nieces and nephews.

      Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred Mann and Robert Mann and two sisters Pearl Lowe and Edith Weck.
