Wife of Sailor Took Own Life
Mrs. Ruth Coble, 27, of , died Monday as the result of eating poisoned wheat with suicidal intent.
A coroner's jury returned the suicide verdict after holding an inquest in the Moran chapel under the direction of Coroner Harold Brintlinger at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Relatives testified that Mrs. Coble had appeared mentally ill on occasion and had previoulsy threatened to end her life.
On one occasion recently, one sister testified, Mrs. Coble left a note that she would be fund near Faries Park. She later returned.
Her sisters testified that she had been ill since an operation last Novemeber and at times worried much about her husband, who was in navy overseas services.
Although she loved her babies in rational moments, the testimony disclosed that she would leave home at times to get away from them.
It was disclosed that she had gone to the home of her sister, Mrs. Harley Butler, about a week ago, and it was while there Monday morning that she became ill. She died early Monday afternoon while on her way to the hospital.
Some wheat kernels containing strychnine poisoning, and used for rodent extermination, were found missing from a box on a shelf in the Butler home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Coble will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Moran's chapel with burial in Mt. Gilead cemetery.
