- Enlisted as an Apprentice Seaman and entered active service from hometown on June 7, 1944. Completed basic training and attended Aviation Ordnanceman and Aviation Radar Operator Schools at Naval Air Technical Training Center, Norman, Oklahoma. Served at Naval Air Station, San Diego, California and at New York, New York. Earned the American Campaign Medal and The WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on July 3, 1946 at the Separation Center, Naval Base Terminal Island, San Pedro, California.
