On Veterans' Day, 2005, the city of Flora, Illinois dedicated a memorial to all known Clay County, Illinois World War II Veterans.
Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

Notes - Rufus W. Budde, 82, of Louisville died at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at home.
Mr. Budde was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Clay County, the son of Otto and Emma (Bergmann) Budde. He married Loma Tolliver Feb. 27, 1949.
He was a farmer and worked for 30 years at Fedders. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Louisville.
Surviving are his wife, Loma Budde; sons, Derle Budde, Matthew Budde, Gordon Budde, Barry Budde; daughters, Leticia Budde, Ronna Schoonover, Libby Bible; brothers, Eldred Budde, Darrel Budde, Mervin Budde; sisters, Elnora Budde, Joan Cunningham, Carolyn Hammer, Janice Holste, Judith Stuemke; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry and Delmar; sister, Bernice Wolff; son-in-law, Deon Schoonover; and brother-in-law, Ray Wolff.
Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Louisville. The church is located on the Clay County line.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Richland Memorial Hospice or St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
