  Stephen Ellis Hutchings, age 78, passed away yesterday afternoon in the New Eden Nursing Home where he had been a patient for the past week. Mr Hutchings had been in failing health for the past few years. He was born in Clark County on December 12, 1872, the son of the late William and Mollv Hutchings. He and Mrs. Hutchings moved to Richland County 46 years ago and became well known residents of the Elbow community, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary there on October 1, 1943. Mr. Hutchings is survived by his wife, Amanda Jane, and the following children: Mrs Tillie Housel of Decatur, Elmer Hutchings of Allendale, Mrs Beadie Shelton of Humbel, Texas, Zollie (Bud) Hutchings of Olney, Mrs. Ollie Chance of Lawrenceville, Dennis Hutchings of Parkersburg, Mrs. Violet Reynolds of Elkhart, Indiana, Sylvan Hutchings of Billet, Mrs. Dora Schrader of Olney, Mrs. Letha Mae Laws of Sumner, Ellis Hutchings of Decatur, Mrs. Gracie Goss of Newton, and Mrs. Marjorie Staton of Elkhart, Indiana. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Clapp of Clark County. There are 39 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Two daughters have preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Dush Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. David R. Beecher in charge.
