- Betty was the 11th of thirteen children born to Ralph Harmon Wattles and Velma D. (Grove) Wattles. Ralph and Velma were married on January 22, 1911 in Clay Co., Illinois. Their children in birth order were Lola Ellen, Clifford Willard "Bill", Corydon Lee "Yank", Charles Edward "Jake", Mildred Margaret, Stephen Wayne "Bud", Roy Elvis "Sonny", Irma Irene, Loy Eugene, Mary E., Betty Jane, Patsy Ailene and Delta Merle.
Betty married Jonathan Ireland on Aug 11, 1951. They had 5 children, Robert Paul, Vickey Ailene, John Patrick, Timothy Lee and Beckey Jane Ireland.
Obituary:
Betty Jane Ireland of Woodside passed away at Kent General Hospital, July 8, 2012, Dover, Delaware.
She was born November 29, 1931 in Clay County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Ralph and Velma (Grove) Wattles.
Betty was a cook at the Coral Reef, Hub and TGI Fridays.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by two sisters Mary Smith of Champaign, IL and Meril Hosick of River Grove, IL.
Betty is also survived by her five children: Robert Paul Ireland of Felton, Vickey Aileen Starkings and her husband Jonathan of Montgomery, NY, John Patrick Ireland of Woodside, Timothy Lee Ireland also of Woodside and Beckey Jane and Sam Butler of Milford, two grandsons Brett Butler and Lee Ireland and two great grandsons Jessie and Brian Ireland.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm Thursday, July 12 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Camden-Wyoming, DE.
Interment will be at Shouse Chapel Cemetery, Bible Grove, IL.
