  • Notes
    • Doris Lee (Bible) Stortzum went home to her heavenly father on Friday, July 7, 2017.

She is survived by her husband of 71+ years, August Stortzum. Doris was born in 1928 and was the daughter of Drue and Dorothy Bible of Louisville, Illinois.

August and Doris were blessed with their children, Michael and his wife Sharon of Gays, IL; Shelia Winders (husband Charles Winders d) of Cincinnati, OH; and Vicki Parker and husband Del of Atlanta, Georgia; their grandchildren, Ramona Stortzum Holdren, Erik (& wife Tara) Stortzum, Jason (& wife Amy) Winders, Amanda (& husband Michael) Winders Pazzo, Joshua Stortzum, and Natasha Stortzum; and great grandchildren Tristan Holdren, Austin, Emily and Christina Stortzum, August and Simon Pazzo, Aiden Cook; Athena, Alex and Peter Winders. She is also survived by her brother, Cleo Bible (and wife, June); her sister, Lillian Bible Mills; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Bible.

Doris and August were most recently members of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mattoon, IL since 1985. A service and interment for Doris will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Louisville, IL, 17684 East 1st Avenue at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 with Reverend Michael Mohr and Reverend Joel Oschwald officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Louisville. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.

As the wife of a farmer for more than 30 years, Doris learned many valuable lessons and honed her skills of gardening, baking, and her favorite, construction. The children indicated they would often come home from school and find mom had started another remodel project in their house on the Clay County line. We rejoice that she now resides in that perfect place prepared by her Savior, with no need of remodel or repair, for all eternity.
