- Brenda Kay Franklin, 71, of Dix, Illinois passed away at 10:57 P.M. October 3, 2019 at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. She was born February 17, 1948 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late William McKinley Smith and Margaret Virginia (Poston) Smith. She first married Edward Lee Stone in 1996. She later married Timothy John Franklin on October 9, 1977 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 38 years of marriage.
Brenda is survived by her son, Jeffery Stone and wife, Vanessa of Flora, Illinois; two daughters, Angie Martin and husband, Eddie of Flora, Illinois, and Sue Ann Stanley and husband, Brad of Cottage Grove, Oregon; three brothers, David Smith of Columbia, South Carolina, Charles Ingram of Mannington, South Carolina, and Johnny Smith of Salem, Illinois; two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Lois McGrew, both of Salem, Illinois; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three nephews and eleven nieces.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Billy and Michael Smith; and sister, Velma Snow.
