  Dean Michels, 80, of Olney, died March 5, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. He was born December 28, 1939 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Robert and Ester (Wade) Michels. He married Floella Leist on June 4, 1960 Olney, Illinois, and she survives. Dean was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed working in his shop and gardening. He enjoyed catching fish and spending time with his grandchildren. Dean attended Immanuel United Methodist Church. Dean is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Floella Michels of Olney; son, Kevin Michels and wife Dove of Ft. Branch, IN; son, Kim Michels and wife Trish of Springfield, IL; son, Kerry Michels and wife Maria of Olney; grandchildren, Kale (Nichole) Michels, Kendra (Sean) VanMatre, Lauren (Zach) Sanford, Seth (fiancee Lauren Buerster) Michels, and Larissa Michels; great grandchildren, Preston, Autumn, Sophie, and Gavin; and several nieces and nephews. Dean is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Carolyn Davis and Donna Strawbridge. Memorials can be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney. There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday March 9, 2020 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park.
